TOWING
A bicycle trailer used for children versus one for pets are two completely different items
because the loading weight is balanced rear versus front. The front loading balance for pets requires a unique type of connection to the bicycle. First it has to be aligned in the center to limit tipping and optimize the tracking. The goose neck type of connection enables the transfer of the weight to the center of the bicycle. Dutch Dog Design invented a pivoting method at the receiver of the trailer that prevents tipping of the trailer. When a tipping movement is initiated from the trailer the tipping is blocked and it makes the trailer cabin bounce back. Our DoggyRide trailers are equipped with this tip proof solution.
Loading
Besides towing precious cargo behind your bicycle in a trailer, a lot of people prefer to ride with the load
On the bicycle itself, often in the front. Traditionally, bicycle baskets are connected to the handlebar, which makes the load shift and riding with it unsafe. Dutch Dog Design invented and patented a method for a safe and stable connection of the load to the frame of the bicycle to be positioned front, center or rear. This solution is embedded into our Britch rack system.
Riding
The Britch solution to carry load anywhere on your bicycle safely and stably further revealed
that people are looking for solutions to carry an even heavier load in the front that the Britch wouldn’t be able to handle. That inspired us to design a compact electric cargo bicycle with a focus on frontloading. We came to the conclusion that a focus on frontloading requires the steering to move to the rear and the result is a unique new riding experience represented in our Crossover cargo bicycle.
